Spent more than $1200 between new tires and new rear brakes, had to come back because they forgot to adjust a spring inside the drums and it was making a strange noise, no biggie. They never adjusted the parking brake though. Two months later my drum brakes were covered in rust and the rear brakes started to make noise. Brian from Kirkwood Auto Center read my bad review online and got in touch with me, he asked me about the service and the problems he read I was having and agreed that the drums rusted quite fast. We scheduled to change the brake drums and get the noise taken care of, everything under warranty. I only paid $45 which was the difference for a superior set of drums that I chose. They also adjusted the parking brake. I guess my experience was a combination of bad luck with the parts (happens) and my truck not being the most common brand around so they don't see them often but they followed up, spent three hours chasing the noise, stood behind their work and honored the warranty. And that speaks volumes. Two thumbs up.
Manuel, I'm sorry that you had a problem with the spring when your vehicle was in for service. The rust on the outside of your brake drums that you are referring to is normal and has no effect on the braking or safety of your vehicle. If your were to look at the outside of a brake drum on a brand new vehicle, the outside of the drums will have rust on them. This is especially normal in this part of the country due to the weather and moisture.
